Welcome to the Corporate Jam: Space Jam 2 is A Shameless Cash Grab

Few people are under the opinion that the first Space Jam was a good movie but it did have endearing moments. It also had plenty of brand marketing, and was a cash grab itself. Of course it was. However, there was still clearly a soul attached to it. There was clearly something genuine, authentic, and something children really enjoyed.

Space Jam 2 is not that; full of cheap gimmicks, cameos, and removing anything that was interesting, edgy, or adult about the original. It’s strange that a sequel is made for a film with a fanbase that is now adult, but that the sequel is more G rated than the original. Why would you do that? You would think it would be marketed to the audience that loved the first, not children. That’s because it’s not made for children either. It’s not made for anyone in particular. The conception of it is clearly and fully a venture capitalist pursuit, something you can’t fully say about the first.

Cancel culture sensitivity only exists because Warner Bros takes action against characters such as Lola Bunny, Pepe Le Pew, and the likes of Yosemite Sam, and Elmer Fudd. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be an issue. No one would be complaining about Lola Bunny’s appeal, or cartoon guns, or Pepe’s romantic persistency if it weren’t for corporate action. This matters because their actions led up to Space Jam 2. It all led up to a film pandering about the cancel culture myth. It all led up to a film that only has a purpose of revenue. If it’s not for the kids, and it’s not for the adults, it’s for the money.

It all led up to a film that upholds the corporate power structure, and pulls every trick in the book to prioritize profit over entertainment, culture, and art. Because they can! They do the same thing with politics, funding ideologues to spew lies dangerous to society, and to form policy that is provocative but once again detrimental to society and humanity. Because they can. Welcome to the corporate jam. It’s the reality of the world currently.
