IATSE Starts Petition for Music Supervisors in Lieu of Unionization Efforts

Music Supervisors are a vital part of the music industry; responsible for curating, securing/negotiating licensing for, and coordinating the use or creation of recorded music in service of a showrunner’s vision and budget. 75% of music supervisors recently signed union authorization cards for fair treatment and equity within the industry.

However, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers chose not to recognize it and begin any negotiations. This isn’t too surprising in modern America, as unions have been decimated, and worker rights are not generally in a place of priority. Executives are the priority in the system, those with the money, and who make the majority of the money, not those who work hardest.

In lieu of unionization efforts, IATSE has stepped in once again, and has begun a petition for equal worker rights, like unionized industry workers have. You can support music supervisors by signing the petition below.
