Lightyear, Expected in Theatres June 17, 2022

The official teaser trailer for Lightyear has been released. It seems as though the direction of the film is to examine the origin of Buzz Lightyear. In Toy Story 2 the origin of Woody is examined. Lightyear will take the opportunity to depict the human who the toy Buzz Lightyear was based off of. This is an interesting concept, and an opportunity to explore a lot of new ground for Pixar, as well as include epic Toy Story canon.

If you’re one of those nostalgic Toy Story fans wondering why Buzz looks different or why Tim Allen is not voicing him, it is simply and quite clearly due to the creative direction of examining the human origins of the real Buzz Lightyear. It’s a welcome conceptual direction and sure to be very interesting. We’re looking forward to this one and could be, yet again, another Pixar classic.
